BEPPE SEVERGNINI scrive per il "Corriere della Sera" dal 1995 e dal 1998 conduce il forum "Italians" (www.corriere.it/italians), al quale ha dedicato l'ultimo libro: "Italians. Il giro del mondo in 80 pizze" (Rizzoli 2008). Ha scritto per "The Economist" (1993-2003) e per il "New York Times Syndicate" (2007-2009). Nel 2004, a Bruxelles, è stato votato "European Journalist of the Year".

I libri, pubblicati in Italia da Rizzoli, sono bestseller. Beppe Severgnini ha scritto tre ritratti nazionali: "Inglesi" (1990), "Un italiano in America" (1995) e "La testa degli italiani" (2005). Due libri sulla lingua:
"L'inglese. Lezioni semiserie" (1992) e "L'italiano. Lezioni semiserie" (2007). Due libri di viaggio: "Italiani con valigia" (1993), "Manuale dell'imperfetto viaggiatore" (2000) e l'autobiografia "Italiani si diventa" (1998).

"Un italiano in America", col titolo "Ciao, America" (Doubleday, 2002) è diventato un National Bestseller negli USA. "La testa degli italiani", col titolo "La Bella Figura" (Doubleday, 2006) è stato New York Times Bestseller, ed è tradotto in dodici lingue.

Appassionato di calcio, Beppe scrive per la "Gazzetta dello Sport" dal 2001 ed è autore di una multipla dichiarazione d'amore alla squadra del cuore: "Interismi" (2002), "Altri interismi" (2003) e "Tripli Interismi!" (2007). I tre volumi sono raccolti nel "Manuale del Perfetto Interista".

Beppe Severgnini ha scritto e condotto le trasmissioni televisive "Italians, cioè italiani" (RaiTre 1997), "Luoghi Comuni. Un viaggio in Italia" (RaiTre 2001 e 2002). Dal 2004 collabora a SKY Tg24 con interviste, conduzioni e commenti ("Severgnini alle 10", "America 2008", "Zona Severgnini"). Dal 2007 interviene quotidianamente su RadioMontecarlo.

Beppe è nato il 26 dicembre 1956 a Crema (Cremona), dove ha studiato fino alla maturità classica. Laureato in diritto internazionale a Pavia, dopo un periodo presso la Comunità Europea a Bruxelles è stato corrispondente a Londra per "il Giornale" di Montanelli (1984-1988), inviato in Europa Orientale, Russia e Cina (1988-1992), distaccato presso "The Economist" a Londra (1993), corrispondente a Washington D.C. per "la Voce" (1994-1995).

Tiene un corso alla Scuola di giornalismo Walter Tobagi dell'Università degli Studi di Milano/Ifg (2009/2010), è stato Research Fellow/writer in residence al MIT/Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2009), ha insegnato a Middlebury College Vermont (2006), Milano-Bocconi (2003 e 2006), Parma (1998) e Pavia (2002), che lo aveva scelto come «laureato dell'anno» per il 1998; e ha tenuto lezioni in molte altre università, in Italia e all'estero.

Nel 2001 Elisabetta II gli ha conferito il titolo di Officer of the British Empire, O.B.E.

Dal 2008, è Presidente (onorario) dell'Inter Club Kabul.

E' sposato con Ortensia e ha un figlio, Antonio.

Il giro del mondo in 80 pizze (Rizzoli 2008). He has written for “The Economist” (1993-2003) and for the New York Times Syndicate (2007-2009). In 2004, Beppe Severgnini was voted “European Journalist of the Year” in Brussels.
 
Severgnini’s books, published in Italy by Rizzoli, are bestsellers. Beppe Severgnini has written three portraits of nations: Inglesi (1990), Un italiano in America (1995) and La testa degli italiani (2005). Two books on language: L'inglese. Lezioni semiserie (1992) and L'italiano. Lezioni semiserie (2007). Two travel books: Italiani con valigia (1993) and Manuale dell'imperfetto viaggiatore (2000), and an autobiography Italiani si diventa (1998).
 
Un italiano in America became a National Bestseller in the US as Ciao, America! (Doubleday, 2002). La testa degli italiani was a New York Times Bestseller as La Bella Figura (Doubleday, 2006) and has been translated into twelve languages.
 
A keen soccer fan, Beppe has been writing for the “Gazzetta dello Sport” since 2001. He is also the author of a multiple declaration of love for Inter Milan, his favourite soccer team: Interismi (2002), Altri interismi (2003) and Tripli Interismi! (2007). All three have been published in a single volume as Manuale del Perfetto Interista.
 
Beppe Severgnini wrote and presented the television programmes “Italians, cioè italiani” (RaiTre, 1997) and “Luoghi Comuni. Un viaggio in Italia” (RaiTre 2001 and 2002). Since 2004, he has collaborated with SKY Tg24 as an interviewer, presenter and contributor (“Severgnini alle 10”, “America 2008” and “Zona Severgnini”). Since 2007, he has contributed daily to RadioMontecarlo.
 
Beppe Severgnini was born on 26 December 1956 at Crema, in the province of Cremona, where he graduated from a classics-oriented secondary school. He obtained his degree in international law at Pavia. After a training period at the European Community in Brussels, he was London correspondent for Indro Montanelli’s “il Giornale” (1984-1988), subsequently becoming special correspondent in Eastern Europe, Russia and China (1988-1992). He was seconded to “The Economist” in London (1993) and then served as Washington correspondent for “la Voce” (1994-1995).
 
Beppe Severgnini teaches at the Walter Tobagi school of journalism at the university of Milan/IFG (2009-2010). He has been a research fellow/writer in residence at MIT/Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2009) and has taught at Middlebury College, Vermont (2006), and at the universities of Milan-Bocconi (2003 and 2006), Parma (1998) and Pavia (2002), which elected him “Alumnus of the Year” for 1998. He has also lectured at many universities in Italy and abroad.
 
In 2001, Beppe Severgnini was made an Officer of the British Empire (OBE) by HM Queen Elizabeth II.
 
Since 2008, Severgnini has been Honorary President of the Inter Club, Kabul.
 
Beppe Severgnini is married to Ortensia and has a son, Antonio.
